CHALLENGE

Gold Credit Union is a local Credit Union, dedicated to providing the best service to their members. Their philosophy is built on people helping people and its not-for- profit, not-for-shareholders approach. Their mission is to make sure every member gets the respect, service and courtesy they deserve, as they are the true owners.

In 2016, the Credit Union decided to strengthen their current disaster recovery solution. Their existing network design was co-dependent on the functions of their primary facility and they needed a cost-effective backup solution that provided better redundancy. Gold turned to their long-time IT partner, Simply IT.

SOLUTION

Simply IT worked with Gold to revise their disaster recovery strategy. This was accomplished by working with the Chiefs of Staff to identify weaknesses in their current plan, and engineer a solution that minimized these risks.

Simply IT utilized their Disaster Recovery Service to address these concerns. The new solution included re-designing the client’s networks to function independently. Furthermore, Simply IT implemented a cost-effective redundant backup solution to protect all of the mission critical systems that the client had originally identified. This solution included monitored onsite backups for quick file restorations, cloud storage for serious failures and spare hardware if needed. The entire solution is encrypted for security and maintained by Simply IT.

RESULTS

After implementing the solution, the Credit Union performed a staged disaster. This process was performed to prove that each facility could operate autonomously. The test was a success and verified the Credit Union could serve its members and critical functions in the event their primary site was unavailable.

Best of all, the entire solution was implemented end-to-end without any disruption to Gold’s members or business operations. Gold currently subscribes to Simply IT’s Disaster Recovery Services. This service monitors, maintains, and tests their backups so they are always ready should an issue arise.
